If Bulgaria’s former Soviet weapons stockpile includes drones?

Yesterday on Twitter, I came across a report, and I was really pleasantly surprised, but also somewhat surprised. Is this really true? According to the “Kiev Independent” report, since 2022, Bulgaria has been secretly transporting ammunition to Ukraine. The recent commitment to provide 100 armored vehicles is the first publicly announced aid package. Obtaining assistance from Bulgaria is crucial, especially now. U.S. aid is threatened due to a parliamentary deadlock, and pro-Russian Slovak and Hungarian prime ministers have vetoed EU support for Ukraine. According to reports citing Bulgarian officials in The Guardian, after a secret visit by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba last spring, Sofia supplied 30% of Ukraine’s Soviet ammunition needs. Bulgarian Defense Minister Todor Tagarev stated that supporting Ukraine aligns with Bulgaria’s strategic interests. He mentioned that Russia “violates all international norms” and is “undermining the international security architecture.” He also said, “First and foremost, helping the victims of aggression is a moral duty.” “Ukraine’s prevention of Russian aggression and efforts to restore its sovereignty and territorial integrity also align with our strategic interests. This is crucial for stability in Europe, especially in the Black Sea region,” he said, adding that more and more Bulgarians are supporting Ukraine. The war in Ukraine seems to be a wake-up call for his country. Tagarev said, “Bulgaria’s defense industry is working at full capacity 24/7, and this is the most significant support Ukraine is receiving.” I also wonder how good it would be if there were drones in the former Soviet military warehouses – Ukraine would undoubtedly prevail!
